About Us

Chef Kim MacPherson and her husband Mark Pehlke are proud to welcome you to Lupin Dining & Pantry, located on their picturesque property in Musquodoboit Harbour, Nova Scotia.

Lupin is the culmination of a dream that started back on the West Coast where Mark and Kim first met, gaining eclectic cooking and farming experience across the country, before settling on their 40 acre homestead on the Eastern Shore in 2015.

They have created a symbiotic relationship with the property, practicing permaculture, poultry rotation, regenerative gardening and composting. As a result their soils have become a canvas for high production of culinary herbs, vegetables, and fruit.

Kim M.  - HEAD CHEF & OWNER

Inspired by her experience on Michael Stadtlander’s Eigensinn Farm at the Canadian Chefs Congress, Kim has been honing her skills and developing the knowledge to create her own farm-to-table restaurant.

Kim grew up on a farm in Ontario and entered into the culinary field surrounded by talented chefs whose focus was to use local and seasonal ingredients. Her passion for the farm-to-table concept only grew over the years as she worked in recognized restaurants across the country and as a personal chef.

Kim is excited to bring her love for French and Italian cooking, with a mix of Maritime influence to the Eastern Shore. With our gardens directly behind the kitchen, you just might find Kim gathering ingredients for your dish.

Matt M- SOUS CHEF

Matt started his career in Halifax at NSCC’s Culinary Arts Program. Learning to cook Canadian East Coast delicacies, like fresh seafood, well before having cooked his first steak.

Matt spent 10 years living and traveling throughout Europe and Asia. Working with many curious and disciplined chefs has shaped Matt’s approach to cooking while always showcasing high quality, local ingredients.

Since returning home to Nova Scotia, Matt’s focus has been on cultivating and working with local, sustainable products.

When not puttering in the garden with his dog, Matt spends time hiking, fishing, and watching Premier League Football (Man-U).

Elaine S. - LEAD SERVER

Originally from Northern Ireland, Elaine moved her family to Canada and has explored our beautiful country over the years.

Elaine has been working in the hospitality for over a decade, with her passion for exceptional food and service growing throughout that time. Her favourite part of the job is creating a connection with her guests and giving them the story behind each dish. Elaine awaits to give you a memorable and unique dining experience.

Mark P. - OWNER & GARDENER

As a journeyman electrician Mark naturally became the go to guy for everything on the property. He spends his time after work tending to the garden and animals, but he really enjoys time on the water surfing when the waves roll in.
With a love for entertaining and creating the perfect atmosphere, Mark skillfully created a comfortable and energizing space for our guests.
